Cast-in-place concrete wall

Excavate the ground vertically and replace it with reinforced concrete.

A diaphragm wall is a reinforced concrete wall cast into the ground. The stability of the trench during drilling, reinforcement and concreting operations is achieved using a perforating fluid called mud, itself made from bentonite.

It forms a sealed deposit called cake on the walls of the excavation, preventing it from percolating into the ground and providing the hydrostatic pressure that prevents the walls from collapsing. A slurry made from polymers can also be used.

The diaphragm wall is perfectly suited to the presence of water in the ground. The wall made of reinforced concrete can be used temporarily or permanently; in the latter case, it is integrated into the final structure. Because of its high inertia, a diaphragm wall is much less deformable.

In addition to its support role, the diaphragm wall can also act as a foundation and seal.

Our methods

Bachy Balineau relies on processes and equipment that have been tried and tested for their quality: mechanical tippers, KS-type hydraulic tippers and Hydrofraises® designed and manufactured by Soletanche Bachy.
